This policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit this website. It is written to align with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and Greek data-protection law.
Data controller
The controller responsible for this website is:
- Maria Evangelinou
- Crete, Greece
- Email: evangelinoumar@gmail.com
The short version
This is a static personal website. It contains no contact forms, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking technologies. It does not set cookies, and it does not collect or store personal data about you on any server controlled by me.
Data this site processes
1. Information you choose to send
If you contact me using the email address or phone number on this site, you share whatever information you decide to include (such as your name and message). I use it only to reply to you and to consider any related opportunity. The legal basis is your own initiative and my legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I do not use it for marketing and do not share it with third parties.
2. Technical data processed by the hosting provider
The site is delivered through GitHub Pages and the Cloudflare content-delivery network. To serve pages securely and protect against abuse, these providers automatically process limited technical data, which may include your IP address, browser and device type (user-agent), the page requested and the date and time. This processing rests on the legitimate interest of providing a secure, reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These providers act as separate controllers or processors for that activity under their own policies:
- GitHub Privacy Statement — https://docs.github.com/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-privacy-statement
- Cloudflare Privacy Policy — https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
3. Local storage on your device
To remember your light/dark theme choice, the site stores a single value named theme in
your browser’s local storage. It is strictly functional, never leaves your device and
is never transmitted to me or anyone else. You can delete it at any time by clearing your
browser’s site data. Because it is not used for tracking, no consent banner is required.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies.
International transfers
GitHub and Cloudflare are based in the United States and may process the technical data above outside the European Economic Area. They state that such transfers are covered by safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses. See their policies linked above for details.
How long data is kept
I keep no analytics or server logs of my own. Any email you send me is kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted. Technical logs held by the hosting providers are retained according to their respective policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data held about you;
- request rectification of inaccurate data;
- request erasure (“right to be forgotten”);
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email evangelinoumar@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Greece, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), https://www.dpa.gr/en.
External links
This site links to external services such as LinkedIn and GitHub. Once you follow such a link, this policy no longer applies and the destination site’s own privacy policy governs your data.

This website is not directed at children and does not knowingly process data relating to them.
